He discussed the challenges of transforming the city’s streets, which often require years of advocacy, design, tweaking, hearings, compromise, rejection, and stalling.
“These changes are needed most where there’s the least local advocacy and the most pushback,” says the planner and urbanist Mike Lydon. “And it requires a lot of advocacy, not just to get things started but to get them finished.”
