Mike Lydon Talks Tactical Urbanism & Transportation in Chile

Street Plans Principal Mike Lydon traveled to Chile in early March 2024 on a trip organized in partnership with Santiago-based Ciudad Emergente, a long-time Street Plans collaborator and partner in the creation of the acclaimed Tactical Urbanism 3: Latin America guide.

In Santiago, Mike participated in a number of transportation planning focused engagements including:

  • Serving as the keynote speaker at Nueva Alameda: Movilidad Sostenible y Su Impacto en La Calidad de la Vida (New Alameda: Sustainable Mobility and its Impact on the Quality of Life), a conference focused on the planned implementation of a 8km protected bikeway and larger urban regeneration project along Avenida Alameda, Santiago’s main east-west thoroughfare; the vital link is part of a larger 820km bikeway network designed to stitch the city’s 52 municipalities together
  • Meeting with the Santiago Regional Government’s mobility team
