Camp Washington Legacy Charrette at CNU 32 in Cincinnati

Each year, the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) pairs pro bono design teams with local municipalities and non-profit organizations in the host city for its annual gathering. This year, Street Plans, Arup, and Perkins & Will joined forces with Camp Washington Urban Revitalization Corporation (CWURC) to envision the future of Cincinnati’s most eclectic neighborhood.

Over one week the team worked together to create an adaptable framework plan, identifying key projects for building upon the neighborhood’s industrial history while also supporting a strong arts and maker culture. Over the course of the week it became clear that the neighborhood has a shared vision to strengthen existing residential, commercial, and light industry/innovation district uses, preserving Camp Washington’s affordability, and creating safer, more walkable streets, with an emphasis on public space, connectivity, and the redevelopment of underutilized industrial properties.

The framework plan will be unveiled in May 2024 at CNU 32 in Cincinnati.
