PROJECT STATUS: Phase I, Completed
Gates Avenue is a short one-way street in the residential neighborhood of Clinton Hill in Brooklyn adjacent to a small triangular park.
It was important that the art honored the life of a child that was affected by a car crash at this location. We worked closely with NYC DOT, the local BID, and parents of the traffic violence victim to bring unity, peace and spark joy for visitors of this newly implemented plaza. The color palette was soft and playful and the different circle shapes are meant to integrate and bring people of the community together, including the children who attend the adjacent daycare.
This is the first phase of the project as the NYC DOT + local BID, FAB FULTON, plan to add street furniture and enhance the garden with Vestre garden products in order to bring the community together to support safe streets for all.
