Lyft Resilient Streets Initiative | Seven Cities, USA

Project Status: Completed

Together with Lyft, Sam Schwartz Engineering, and advocacy groups across the country, Street Plans led the visualization of Lyft’s “Resilient Streets” Initiative, which includes re-imagining seven major corridors in cities across the United States (NYC, Chicago, Washington DC, Oakland, Columbus, Minneapolis, and Somerville, MA).

As two examples: In Queens, New York City, the team looked at how the introduction of select bus service, new protected bicycle infrastructure, and the expansion of Citi Bike could help transform access for central and western Queens residents, including visualizing the long-term transformation of Queen’s 34th Avenue Open Street.

In northwestern Chicago, the team examined how increased transportation infrastructure can help encourage western Chicago residents to use sustainable transportation modes for trips to downtown and the Loop.
